Baptism & Chrismation

Since the beginning of the Christian Church, the Sacrament of Baptism has been a sacred mystery that unites us to Christ and publicly marks the beginning of our walk with the Lord. We are not saved as individuals, but as members of the Body of Christ (Church). Infant children are not only baptized in the Orthodox Church, but they are Chrismated and receive Holy Communion for the first time immediately thereafter.

On Sunday, January 15, 2017, Masha was baptized and given the Saint name "Sophia." Her sponsor (Godmother) is Ms. Peppy Keat. Masha is the daughter of Dr. Alexei and Mrs. Mabel Sanqui Fedkin, as well as sister to Leo Fedkin.

Adults who have already been baptized and wish to join the Orthodox Church are not baptized again but are received into the Church through the Sacrament of Chrismation. On Sunday of the Holy Cross (March 19, 2017), Kelly Hayward and Julianne Laude became our newest members, with Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Ladas serving as their sponsor.
